Shortcut URLs Each web page in your web site will have a shortcut name associated with it. This should be a short easy to read and type set of characters. Examples would look like http://www.spps.org/calendar.html where "calendar" or "calendar.html" is the shortcut. By default a shortcut is created for sections based on the name of the section when it was created. The default shortcut can be changed and in many cases this is a good idea. When referring to specific web pages in printed material makes sure the shortcut URL is short and easy to type. If you wanted to have parents see a news item about busing changes a shortcut URL of http://yourschool.spps.org/busing.html will work better than a shortcut of http://yourschool.spps.org/busing_changes_for_the_2008-2009.html The district has come up with some guidelines for the shortcuts for seven specific sections in your web site. Instructions for editing these shortcuts are in the PDF file below. These same instructions can be used to edit the shortcut of any section or item. |
