| Site Design |  | This section deals with elements that effect the look and layout of the
entire web site.
The things that effect the entire site are:
- The template
- The banner image or images
- The CSS stylesheet chosen or created

Contemplating Site Design changes?
Step 1: View Samples
Take a look at the sample templates and banners on this site and/or at other Urban Planet websites.
Step 2: Select Template
If desired, select a different template and note the name of it.
Step 3: Colors, Fonts
There are Stylesheets which determine the colors/styles of the
navigation bar, sidebars, Snap Polls, and text. If you want different
colors you will need to find the html code for the colors.
- If you see a color you like on your screen and if you have Mac
OS X, you can use the text editor to find codes. Open the editor.
Under Format select Font -- Colors. Click on the view represented
by the middle picture at the top. Select web safe colors from list.
Select magnifier then click on a color anywhere on your screen and the
color viewer will show you the code.
- OR If you want to just look at a list of web colors/codes you
can go to http://html-color-codes.com. An example of a code-
Basic Orange is FF3300.
Also, if you wish to make other changes to the stylesheet and if you
have worked with cascading style sheets you can copy the css for your
site, make changes to it, then email the revised css to
george.adams@spps.org. To find the css view the page source (likely
under your browser's View menu) and find "text/css
href=/shared/templates/SPPS_dist/styles/nameofstyle.css" Copy the
/shared etc address segment. Add this to the end of your site address.
(For example, the address which will display the stylesheet for the
Help site would be
http://uphelp.spps.org/shared/adminDesigns/stylesheets/main.css)
Step 4: Banner(s)
You will create a banner that is the right size for the template you
choose. (If you are staying with the same template- Look at the Display
Settings under Configuration in edit for your Home section to see what
width size the banner should be. The height can be different.) Save it
as a .jpg or .gif. Email it to george.adams@spps.org. Include the
address for your site. Note which sections should display which banner
if there is more than one banner.
