RSS Feeds - Including Items from another site on your Section

See an example of a feed from the District News at the bottom of this section.

You can include items from a section on another site on one of your sections. The other site has to be RSS enabled (allowing Really Simple Syndication of their items). Once you set up the RSS feed on your section the items will automatically update when they are updated on the original site.

Web pages allowing RSS will have an XML or RSS Enabled button (usually in lower right hand corner). Clicking on that button will display the content of the page in XML format. Copy the address of that page and use it when creating your RSS Promotion on a section in the Urban Planet administration.

Your viewers will see the titles (and summaries) from the items on the original site. If they click on the title of an item it will take them to that original site so they can read the entire item.
Adding an RSS feed from another website to your web site.
  1. Copy one of the links listed below or the address as stated above.

  7. Fill out any other appropriate fields, click apply, apply and save.
  8. View the section on your web site to see if the RSS feed worked.

Turning a section of your web site into a RSS feed provider.
  1. In the admin section of your web site find and edit the section you want as a RSS feed.
  2. On the left side click on Access Settings
  3. Set "Permit RSS Syndication" to true.
  4. Save your changes
  5. View the section. It should have a XML in the lower right hand corner.
